Episode 1 – The Meet and Greet

Last night I participated in a live action futurist conversation where we ate and drank and merrily discussed the future of cooperation. It was stimulating.

Mike and Chris and I talked though some ideas about how we can rank priorities in a way that allows people to work together towards common long term goals, while meeting everyone’s needs, and at the same time not imposing on or neglecting eachother.

We debated whether there can be any higher priority than curing aging as a single disease and developing rejuvenation technologies, giving how much extra time that would give us to solve all other problems. Or if improving and equalizing quality of life is more important, when we can see how deeply so many people are suffering. And whether there is a need to choose, can’t we solve all the world’s problems if we solve the problems we have with cooperation?

We shared some information about others who are building technologies that support cooperation and community building . And talked about actions we may be able to take together to move the project of living longer, better lives forward.

I really enjoyed our talk, and am so glad to have such well informed and thoughtful people to think together with on these topics. I wish we could have recorded our conversation to share, and maybe we can do something like that in the future. But for now I stumbled upon this recent interview of Reason from Fight Aging! this morning. He talks about why he thinks curing aging is the most ethical cause you can support. Listen to the interview @ Archive.org.
